Ask around your track to find out what works well for your local conditions Onroad rubber tires are temperature rated now. Find out the track temp range for a days racing and buy pre-mounted rubber slicks to suit. Right now I'm liking the Sweep EXP line of pre-mounted tires with Sweep X3 traction compound as they're reasonably priced and easy enough to find online. On a race day I'll start with EXP 40, then switch to EXP 36 and then EXP 30 as the track temp cools off as the sun sets. If you go with too hot a tire for your conditions you'll know it because you'll be fighting for traction. Too cold for the track and the tire wears too fast and overheats.
