i wouldn't use it my self.
as it sticks out to the edge of the foam bumper so that cannot compress when you hit the board/pipe etc so it is just going to send a nasty shock down your car, not sure what it will do but you know what i mean
so if you dont use it it will allow ytour foam bumper to compress softening the impact.
