It was a L8 actually so the springs and shocks are different than an 8 buggy. We didn't do anything to the suspension except limit droop and add preload. It handles real well (Thomas-Zerta beat my DM-1 with it).
I had different tires though. Tires are the most important factor by far. I ran Sweep slicks and Thomas and D. Starks ran PMT's. I tried to get some Sweep treads, but they were out. The slicks did surprisingly well, it was my driving that put me in 3rd place
. PMT's seem like they are ticket out there though.
We are going to go to thicker oil (60-80wt) in the Losi and see how that does. You can crank the preload spacer down if you can't find stiff enough springs. It seems light rear and stiff front works best to get the most rear traction.
Thanks for the update. The Losi drivetrain is very light and efficient, I thought it might have made a big difference in acceleration and handling.
