On the one-way questions. I had a problem with my outdrives after I installed the retaining rings because it squeezed them a little and bound up on the ball. I took a flat file and removed a (very) small amount of material on both sides. It takes no time at all. Now everything is free.
I've had the same prob and used the same solution.
Now I have a question. What type of lube should be used on the one-way bearings? I used diff lube but was just wondering if there is something else I should be using?
Don't lube them. They come lubed from the factory and I've put some serious mileage (racing twice a week for 3 months) on them and the only failure was the result of a high speed, on-power incident with a immovable corner that grenaded one of the plastic bearing cases (along with the C hub, and dogbone).
