actually u want a small lug tire so the mud doesnt stick to the tire, when it gets muddy any tire will get u the same traction, a smaller lug tire(holeshot, grid irons) will allow the mud to hold onto less. Nick(integra) even ran slicks out there and he seemed to have as much traction as everyone else did
At 2010 nitro challenge in az it poured the night before the mains, i went to a couple pros asking them tire suggestions all said what i wrote above including but but not limited to drake, thrue, fisher
Last years worlds was a mud bog! not only were they running small pin tires but they were cutting off rows of center pins
