How many leds were lighting up? Reading a glossy plastic item with a temp gun set for the emissivity of aluminum doesn't really do a whole lot.
All the lights where on (used to only be 3-4 lights)... I was using the nitro node from my spektrum which I had on top not on the bottom of the ESC. I never broke out the heat gun, just un-soldered it and put it away.
