Thanks for the info guys - ill replace the bearings and the conrod for sure.

Do you think I could use the old conrod for breakin and then save the new one for running - ive heard of people doing that. Maybe ill just use a heat gun so t doesnt stress it as much.

Also - this is an old speed with the old style carb. Wll this carb work or should i get a new one? how do i tell if the carb is bad?

If there's no obvious wear on the bushing, then go ahead and keep it to use for a break in rod.

My Speed had the old style carb (21H) too. The only improvement I see on the new one (21J) is the location of the idle screw, but it costs way more. I just put new o-rings in the 21H, and used it...
