Lipos offer significantly less weight and more punch. How could that not translate to faster? As well, the power stays the same throughout the discharge, unlike a NIMH which will have less and less power as the charge wears out.
Just a point here.
A 5-cell 1300mah NiMh hump pack versus the Losi receiver Lipo 2s 7.4v and regulator...the Losi Lipo w/Regulator is only 5 GRAMS less weight.
5grams is 5grams; but the average driver is not going to feel nor notice the difference.
The biggest convenience of Lipo's is the high Mah and not having to worry about the pack on a normal club-race day.
