countersunk top deck.. no centre brace except for a front aliminium one, no battery straps ( i use glass fibre tape ).

How much do the square gearboxs weigh?
The square gearbox weights a little more than the stock plastic ones. I think you save a lot of weight by just taking the battery holder off and use the strapping tape to hold your battery. Another great weight saving is to use the new titanium wheel axels from Tamiya. They are much lighter than the stock steel ones. Plus the weight you save there is unsprung weight and it should help your handling.
