There are no real rules. Most places wind up with a bunch of Tamiya cars (and now 3racing) with silver can motors. ROAR does have rules, but the 1998 carpet nats may have been the last time they ran F1.
The old HPI Super F1, Corally, CRC Power F1, RCIndyCars etc. all are technically F1 but they use 1/10 pan car wheels and have less realistic front ends. Some places don't allow them because of this.
