You shouldn't have to anything to the carbon disks. I don't think you have to use the brake pads with them. I could be wrong. I've never used them but i've read a few places where the pads weren't needed. You definetly don't want to get them wet but I heard the drop in performance wasn't nearly as severe if you were to get the metal disks wet.

I would clean the brake pads and the disks with brake parts cleaner or some kind of degreaser.
