Interesting... you'd want to experiment a bit though. Temp on the top of the cooling head can be MUCH different than the temp at the glow plug, which is what we normally measure. So... compare the two... once you know how much they differ this might not be a bad solution.
I guess that ideally, the sticker would be applied to the crankcase, right beneath the cooling head. That having been said, I don't think that there's enough flat surface area on the crankcase to mount such a sticker... Which is why I think Domit's solution deserves a +1.
