No need for the fancy-schmancy rubber ring adjusters. Just put a thin coat of rubber cement (also known as contact cement) on the body threads and let it dry. You can still thread the adjuster back on, but the cement stays a little pliant and acts as a lock for the adjuster, while still permitting you to change the preload. Has worked for me for years.
