Not quite. According to the technical specifications, the electronics are supposed to be on a radio tray which can be taken out with the removal of just 5 screws.

What I really like about Durango is that unlike, say, a company like Team Magic, all of their innovations appear to actually be practical, as opposed to change purely for change's sake. Also, many of these concepts were tried first in their 1/10 electric buggy (which won the worlds last year) which is one of, if not THE heaviest 1/10 EP buggy ever, and it still brought home the bacon, so I don't think weight is such a critical issue.
