If you're talking carpet only... I would suggest getting the foam kit. Reason being is that all of us have been using the foam car carbon pieces to run rubber tire. In fact, my 13.5 dedicated car is using the 3mm foam chassis plate, not the 2.5mm lipo, and the car has been awesome.

All you would need, in addition to the kit, is springs (393gm, 367gm, 306gm, and 289gm) and a spool. It's a lot cheaper going this route than buying the rubber car and getting the foam carbon parts (chassis and top deck), but to each his own. Either way will work.

The parts I usually break when I clobber stuff are caster blocks and steering blocks. You might want to get some rear hubs too, but if you put a set screw in the hole that's not used, you shouldn't have any problems.
