it sounds like he knows what hes doing when it comes to ball diff assembly, but I have never heard of a problem like this. Try installing one of those diffs in someone else's car if they are kind enough to allow you to.
If its it lasts a while then its another issue.
How tight is the diff? I run mine as loose as possible without any slip.
