OS1 means Serpent style wheels and OS2 means Kyosho/Mugen style wheels. Because these wheels have different offsets, you are required to change some parts in order to use one type of wheel or the other.
The early 960 cars came out with OS1. Then for a short time the kits came with the parts so that you could build it with either OS1 or OS2. Later 960 and 966 kits came as OS2 kits.
There was a lot of speculation about which offset gave the quickest lap times. Because Serpent finally changed to OS2 I assume that is the OS2 must be the quicker off-set.
