I have never used the alloy steering set.

In our spec class, we only allow TT01 and TT01e chassis and a few hop-ups: any oil filled shocks, alloy drive shaft/cups, ball bearings, turnbuckle steering tie rods, any motor heat sink, 7.2 or 7.4 cells or LiPo, and any electronics. There is no weight minimum, but you cannot cut the chassis to lighten.

Gearing is fixed 20t pinion, 61t spur. All motors are blind draw hand out Red Dot. Any 1/10 scale Touring or GT body. Jaco Blue pre-mounts (our hobby shop sells the Jaco Blues for $22).

We run 6 minute Qualifying and 8 minute Mains.

The racing is close, competitive and a lot of fun. Best part, new racers can get in at little cost and these cars NEVER break.

BTW, we also have loaner cars w/radio etc. So, anyone can walk in off the street ask for a loaner and become addicted.
Sounds like a great class! I especially like the handout motors and fixed gearing to take that (and the whining that goes with it) out of the equation.
