you rarely if ever want to cut back on your steering....most tracks are technical enough that if you dont have Max steering your floating into the fluff and not being able to make the turn's you should be able to.....Yes that is a interesting little device that control's EPA....its no replacement for a Upgraded radio....you dont have to spend 3-400$ on a top end race radio...something like a Futaba 2.4 3pm for 150$ would do the trick nicely....plus having to wire that big honkin board inline with the servo's poses another problem of where to mount it securely.....a Slash might not be a big deal but w/e you race as a dirt oval car it might be a tight fit.
