You can make those 1000 gram scales work. Remember, 1lb on a 12" lever is double that at the 6" mark, or backwards, 1000 grams at 6 inches is 500 grams at 12 inches. Take 4 pieces of 1x4 and a 2x4 (I would make the 1x4's twice the distance of measurement from buggys CL to tire) and lay them out so the 2x4 is under cars CL front to rear, one edge of each 1x4 is on the 2x4 making an H pattern, and the end of 1x4 is on scales centered under the four 1x4's (probably need a small block between them) and corner balance the buggy. 500 grams at the scale should be 1000 grams at the tire (Assuming you have near identical distances. The closer to perfect the better the results!). But total weight isnt important, getting the corners to match is. Hope this helps!
