100% yes installing the clutch that way will make it grab harder and sooner that will cause the engine to work harder and bog. Install the shoes such that when the engine spins counterclockwise the shoe trails behind the pin. The clutch has everything to do with a bogging problem. Install the clutch shoes correctly and the problem should correct itself.
