They are nice but not necessary. Its far more important to use the rubber pieces. Just use some caution when installing the screws not to over tighten them. I usually tighten the screws until the rubber compresses slightly and then stop. You want the servo to be tight enough to work properly without being so tight the ears or case would break if you were to take a serious hit.
