The third generation tanks have been very good from what I've experienced and heard. It's possible you have the second generation tanks. Call Don at AE and let him know what's going on so he can get you fixed up.
For the fuel routing, get a set of fuel line clips from the truggy, part number 89325. Drill a hole in the side of the tank on top so you can mount the clip, then run the fuel line through there to keep it from bouncing around. Check out this pic and look at where Cavalieri mounts his fuel filter. The clip should go in the same place.
