yup you just cut along the first mold line inside the switches. I myself have done it several times and it works very well. I prefer the old style switches over the new 38 series ones anyway. Just make sure you use good bands when mounting them. I use 2 panther bands when I do mine, but if you don't have a set you can use big rubberbands or electrical tape wrapped tightly.
