4 AA batteries in a plastic holder is bad news it defo has these.
The way the reciever antenna is run can cause problems.

You might want to have a freind help you do some radio range testing
get rid of the 4AA batterys, get a good nimh battery.
and since your on a crystal that can cause issues if someone else is on the same crystal as u but you said it happens everytime your as the track so...
