a good rule of thumb is to run them as tight as possible until you feel the drivetrain start to bind up from it. leave your pinion off the car and freespin the drivetrain with the belts a bit loose. keep going on the cams until the freespin is reduced. now back off one and you're set.
note: the grey belts can be run tighter than the black ones before dragging the transmission down.
