What we have in mind so far is to sheet the top with plywood, then probably weld on some perches to mount 4x4 posts to on the 4 corners and every 8' or so in between. Then 2x4's for the railings on top of the 4x4's. For stairs we may be able to salvage the wooden ones from the old stand, then weld on mounts and such for set them up. Not sure on that quite yet.
The club has limited funds now, but have quite a bit of lumber on hand. The price of steel now is going to make it tough to build the rest.

i somewhat see ur dilema....the only time i races on a Ccan was at the canadian Nats...and they had a Local welding company rig up some Fancy pancy alluminum stairs and made up square tubing as the rails....but im sure to have it done on a non sponsorship deal would cost u guys a fortune....but it sound's like your on the right track with the tabs for lumber.
