No, those are not the shims to take the play out of the ring & pinion mesh. Those shims go behind the 6 bevel gears inside the diff cup. They have to be in there otherwise you'll tear up the bevel gears (some peeps call them star gears...LOL ).

The shims you want are the size of a 16mm bearing. They are very thin (like 0.1 or 0.2mm thick) and are like 15.9mm round with an inside diameter of like 13.9mm. Mugen part number C0114 has the shims:
