I'll put this in terms that even Mr. rezenclowd3 can understand. When the things that stick up from the car/truck/anything with wheels, don't stick up as far, that makes the C.G. lower. C.G. stands for Center of Gravity. So when you say things like "Though more CG is centered" it sounds like "Automobile Car", or "Flying Airplane"...
I like the idea, and as I said, I'm surprised it hasn't been tried on an 8th scale buggy before. The trickiest part would be the throttle linkage. I've seen a similar attempt when Serpent made that F-1 car:
