Yep, the shaft runs through a small metal plate that sits at an angle for tension. You can see this in close up pics. Push on the lever and you move the shaft to where you need. They work great. It's nice to use them in a small hand held driver. Teardown or quick adjustments are simple. I've been using mine since Dec. 05 right after they were released. Haven't replaced anything yet, anodizing has stood up to my abuse. The plastic colored caps are all still tight to snap back on the end. And the tips seem perfect still.
