The one benefit of running a spool is your front drive train is locked, giving you more on power speed and making the car lean in as you turn. A one way does the same thing but does not give you the stability that a spool will. The spool works like drag brake the more you let off the more it will slow down. So if you take an example like rubber on carpet where you are not getting as much traction as foams a spool is beneficial because you can still carry the speed through the corners without making the car loose exiting the turn. Three degrees is more than enough to plant the car if you have the right setup. Hope this helps.
