Probably part of the reason it's stepping out is because you shouldn't drive it like a sedan. You need to be more linear in the corners. The name of the game in mini is corner speed. And to keep all the speed you can you need to be smoother in the corners.

Mine has only ever stepped out if I have the wrong tires on the car. Otherwise if anything the car pushes a little off power and just pulls through the corner on power. No sign of stepping out.
