Yup. If it ruts up in short choppy bumps it usually helps to take out some travel so you can skip across the bumps and not waste time with the wheels falling into them and coming back out.

If the bumps are more rolling and less abrupt adding some travel usually helps the wheels follow the track and allow you to put down more power and have more control.

If you add more down travel in the front it will also hook up the rear on power with extra rear weight transfer, but will take away on-power steering.
