How come you are stripping the spurs? You might want to try a smaller sized spur gear with a larger pinion (to get the same gearing as now) but the idea is that more teeth are in contact at the same time, hopefully stopping you strip the spur gear! Worth a shot as you will have better gearing oprtions with 64dp.
