racenut123, you have to take into consideration what the tracks are like out here. At Trackside in Milwaukee, we gear Monster motors at 7 flat -- you have to if you want to be competitive. The track is open enough and has enough traction that with a well-set-up car, you never get off the throttle (assuming you can drive it).
The level of driving and the level of competition in the stock classes there is bordering on ridiculous. These guys are running top-of-the-line packs and motors for weekend club racing. Plus, there are a few sponsored guys in the mix, all racing stock.
Motors are trued after every run, then junked after a few weeks and new ones are brought into the mix. Multiple guys bring dynos to the track. That's just how it is. On the one hand, it's a drag, but on the other hand, it's pretty cool to be able to race against absolutely awesome drivers week in and week out.
