Thanks Monty. When I ran the 26mm tires in the last qualifier to try and get something more I could tell the car was considerably faster. And if I had been running them the whole time I think I could have done much better with them. The car was faster but much more reactive and twitchy with them. I wasn't used to the extreme amount of steering I got from them and I was down in the lower main anyways. So I just stuck with what I knew I could get a round the track with for the mains.
Oh, and next time I'm coming out that way, I'll let you know and we can meet up at the track. If I'm not bringing my gear with me, I don't think the wife can complain too much if a friend has a car there ready for me.
