i got a tl01 off a mate for nothing so i chopped it and poxyed it all up

You're gonna laugh at this but after I hacksawed the shaft to the carrect lenght I used the end I cut off and put it on top of the shorten shaft, aligned the ends and then put both of them in a vice. I just went throught the orginal hole and it acted as a guide for the drill bit. By using the cut end of the shaft I had the exact spot for the hole that you put the pin in for the gear.
