Check your stock kit...there should be a stock plastic one, not really a straight up/down pole...it is kinda a "C" shaped in the middle so it can pass around the center shaft....if you want something bling , then you should get the HARA alum version, I think the stock are are rigid enough.
I am not sure for outdoor asphalt (for your DE challenge) the center post is necessary....I don't run mine for outdoor mod.........I use the pole for carpet only.
