If you really want to get into race car dynamics, get a copy of Tune to Win by Carroll Smith. Picked up my last copy at Barnes and Noble (wore out my first copy so I donated it to a friend). It is written in very understandable terms and will help you to understand what the chassis is doing to the tire. Drive to Win is pretty useful too. Don't bother with Engineer to Win and Prepare to Win, they don't really apply to our cars.
