I have to disagree - the momentum is pretty much just a bad thing. Even on wide open, flowing tracks where you like to carry speed continually, it's easy enough to use partial throttle to keep your speed up through a turn.

Technically, the best weight to remove is firstly rotating mass, then static mass at the highest point (greatest effect on CG). So a lightweight body would make a bigger difference to your CG than a lightweight chassis. Actually, decreasing the weight of your chassis *increases* your center of gravity (all other things being equal).
