Keep the esc and upgrade the battery to a good Lipo.
The battery is your biggest issue.
I ran the same esc on a tekin 9.5t and it lasted a year.
You already got the pinion so should be good to go. Just watch the time as that esc is meant for life packs so no low voltage cutoff
