Most of the wings effects seem to be more weight related than aero. Lighter front wings like a serpent are more responsive. The rear wings do have some aero effects but again weight comes into play as well. Mounting further back cantilevers the pod - on carpet for example you generally want to get the wing tight to the pod and low. I actually had a carpet race where an errant car sheared my rear wing off. The car was fine except getting onto and off the straight. It was a bit squirrelly there. I have found the f104 pro rear wing is a bit low for my tastes though.
