Hobbywing and MMX escs have failsafe limiters that cut throttle in extreme conditions like speed runs where the motor pulls a lot of amps. Especially big high kv motors. The XLX used to do this too until they recieved new firmware. Now I consider it the best ESC for speedruns. The data logging and Castle's tunability cannot be matched.
The XLX still has failsafes, for instance the new TP CM2200 kv is made for 8 cell but the XLX can't handle it unless you run well under 1:1 gearing,anything over that it just cuts out as soon as you're near full throttle! But yes it's still the best compared to everything else out there other than an $800 MGM, not to mention it's nearly twice the size of an XLX
