Flat arms use a narrow tower, gullwing arms use a wide tower. Mostly affects shock angles, a narrow tower with gulllwing arms make it a little harder to get to higher ride heights if desired. And obviously the other way around makes it hard to reach lower ride heights. Me personally, if I wanted to mix parts between the two different set ups I would use the lower shock cups to help adjust ride heights.
