I probably dis mis-speak regarding speed and I was at the Champs and saw exactly what you are talking about. While the spread in lap times seems pretty close the skill required to go from a 21.5 to a 17.5 is IMO much different than going from 17.5 to Mod. That is what puzzled me about the choice in motors. I thought the spread would be a bit more even. I've never even driven a mod car but have played around with a 10.5 in TC and it was pretty quick. Single turn motors have to be complete animals. I want to try one but not sure I can stomach what might happen to my car.
Yes the driving style from spec racing to mod definitely takes a different technique . It's more point and shoot without pulling the trigger too hard then attempting to turn as tight as possible without overshooting the corner . ESC setup helps a ton also . If that isn't right it's like trying to slide down a saw blade
