I went to the Avid setup for my 17.5 buggy. I had some of the old style 22 slipper parts laying around, but I thought I might as well go with the Avid. I really like the consistency of the Avid, which lead me to get one for my mod buggy too. The only thing is that I find a bit more noise coming from the gear mesh (using the TLR pinions). I'm not sure if that's due to a slightly different profile of the teeth, or to the Avid spur being a harder material. It hasn't negatively impacted performance so far as I can tell.
