That link point works almost like standing up the rear shock, it will keep the rear of the car flatter and will generate a little more side bite. Its not as big of a change as moving the shock though. It's good to try if you're lacking stability but I don't think you'll need that for the new carpet.
I didn't test this on the new carpet, but I've played with it on a track that had very high traction gray carpet.
