Turf and carpet tracks almost require the carbon towers. Since the local track went carpet here, shock towers on everyone's cars were snapping. There's no give once you flip and catch a tower on the carpet.
I have seen cf towers break also. I personally would have preferred composite for racing on clay. Unsure how much carpet will take over here in the US. We have a new track coming soon and the last i heard is it will be dirt. I kind of wish it was a carpet track like the 702. I think bringing in the onroad guys will only increase business. That being said, I have no idea long term if the offroad guys will destroy the carpet for the onroad guys.
