I'll probably take some flack for this, but I don't think a gear diff is a must for carpet. I run on a tight (10-12 sec laps depending on layout),high bite ozite track every week from Sept. to March and my diffs hold up just fine. I've been running a 22T 2.0 all season and it's just now starting to feel a touch gritty. Only 3 races left so I'll just wait and rebuild it for next season. I make sure my slipper is actually slipping just a little bit. Just my .02, if it's even worth that lol.
