I can help with some of these....

1. 400-500 is fine, I personally use a Dremel with a fine sand (quicker)
2. Preference, I prefer a thin CA. Apply with small Foam sponge or Q-Tip (requires quick work with thinner CA)
3. Start with what's included in the kit, adjust from there.
